50 pounds gone! Wearing size 16 jeans! LCHF way of eating works!
When I was in my 20’s and early 30’s I never thought I would end up with all the infirmities I got hit with in my 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. I ate whatever I wanted and was active enough I never thought about the long term effect on my body. I am a good…no great… cook and before Leon and I started this way of eating, I prepared huge meals of comfort food. I loved to watch people eat my food and see how they enjoyed it. Unfortunately I was slowly killing us and them with what I was preparing.
After I had my first surgery at the age of 36, I started putting on the weight. I started having the issues of my feet and legs swelling. I quit being as active and became more sedentary. So with all of this and eating the high protein, high carbs and high bad fat meals, my body became a big cesspool. I am not even going into the environmental issues here. I am taking responsibility for my own ignorance and abuse of my own body. There was so much I didn’t know, but what I did know I didn’t try to implement.
I tried all the diets there were. I did the diet pills, Nutri-System, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, South Beach, Eat to Live, Eat to Live for Diabetes, the cleansing shakes, Eat for Your Type and this is not the whole list of diets I did…insanity! I would lose some weight and never get to my goal weight. I was always hungry and I would eventually put back on the weight and then more on top of it. I was hurting myself even more with all the yo-yo dieting. I never thought I would get to the whopping weight of 261 that I hit last spring. I was so depressed and angry with myself. The doctor has a little piece of paper that we have to complete now every time we go and it wants to know if we are struggling with depression. I lied.
A question had come up on one of the threads in one of the groups I’m in on Facebook about inflammation which stirred something up in me to write about. I was doing a little gold digging the other day in the Bible and the word “stir” popped out in front of me. I checked out what it meant in the Greek and it means to become sober; to rouse a person out of sleep; to watch, being fully awake; to kindle afresh, revive; to urge on; to move together, excite; to pour together or mix up; to provoke; to stir up; to unsettle. I am pretty visual and I got a picture of someone being shaken so they would wake up. I think this is part of what I am supposed to be doing. I am supposed to stir others out of their slumber of sickness and hopelessness and hopefully impart a revelation to them for finding their way out of it.
I had talked previously about my HCRP level and it is the test that shows inflammation in the body and mine was not good on that. So I continue to eat LCHF, walking and taking the fish oil and other supplements. I am doing what I know best to get that number where it should be. I am diligent about what I do. I don’t cheat and I don’t eat things that are not on my food list. I eat the amount of protein that works for me, I eat the fat so I am not hungry and I keep my carbs super low under 20 grams. I want to succeed at this. I want all my blood work at an optimal level across the board, blood sugars in 80s, and I want to get the weight off.
I have watched and followed Dr. Mercola for years. I had a treasure chest of knowledge but didn’t know how to put it into action. Sound familiar? He has links on inflammation and how many diseases spin off from it. I am posting some of the links here (there are many more) for you to read over for yourself. Don’t give up you can reverse inflammation. Once you understand inflammation, then you will realize how important it is to eat Low Carb High Fat. This way of eating reverses inflammation. How do I know? Because I am proof of it. I want to “stir” you up now! I have my hands on your shoulders and I am shaking you to wake you up…in love of course.
(I am not pushing his supplements, but he has a wealth of information on his website about information. I do believe we can glean so much understanding through these links.)
(This article talks about “A wide array of health problems, including but not limited to obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, periodontal disease, stroke, and heart disease all have inflammation as a part of the disease.” Gut Bacteria and Fat Cells May Interact to Produce “Perfect Storm” of Inflammation That Promotes Diabetes and Other Chronic Disease http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/06/05/chronic-inflammation.aspx
I think we all have our homework cut out for us this week in reading over these articles and seeing how it applies to our lives. Hope it helps in overcoming the inflammation. There is so much information out there.
I sound like a broken record, but check out the links page and use it as a starting point to educate yourself. My heart and passion is to see people who are suffering with diabetes and other inflammatory diseases have hope that it can be reversed. Until next week! Mimi has gone Keto and is loving it!
